Class Q conversion of a stone-built threshing barn into a three-bedroom family home.
Bargehouse
About the project
A Class Q conversion of a 19th-century stone threshing barn. Class Q is a permitted-development right allowing certain agricultural buildings to convert to residential without full planning. It sounds simple; in practice, it’s one of the most technically demanding consent routes, and a surprising number of applications fail.
We secured prior approval first time by carefully meeting every Class Q test. The finished house retains the original cart entrance (now fully glazed) and the threshing floor’s oak beams.
